screws into a hollow door

I've always found it very difficult, what tips please?

the screws are for robe hooks. The door is ply faced.

Get the metal type. They're more expensive, but vastly better. You may need some countersunk M4 screws to fit what you're hanging.

On a ply or hard board door any fixing can be ripped out easily with any weight on the hooks.
 
I'd have thought that readi drivas would give a good enough fixing in a door for robe hooks.
 
Hold a piece of decent wood the other side and screw through the door into that.

Doesn't look so good but wont come out :D :D : D
