Section of floor joist cut out in bathroom

Hey, it's not a plumber's job, it's a job for a joiner.

But without details of joist size, span, position of the cut and load it is carrying, any suggestions for strengthening it can only be guesswork.

Why not post a decent set of pics?

Perhaps more than one joist has been notched to run something - cables, pipes - thro the notches?

Is any wet rot apparent?

Typically, one notch in one joist doesn't spell disaster.
