do'nt know multimeter only goes down to 110 so 12v wouldnt show am i right in thinking?

will i need to buy an instument that can measure if 12v is coming out?

and then i suppose i'll know if its the transformer or the fan thats faulty?

have i just answered my own question?  haha

The 120V setting on your MM is the MAXIMUM voltage it can read on that particular setting.

It will read much lower than this.

Although if it is an electronic transformer, the output is not likely to be 50hz - It will be a rather high frequency, which most DVM's will not be able to read (some can give a semi meaningful value on DC, but you should not really try or rely).

well my mm shows nada wen put onto the terminals were its selv :?:

A SELV fan complete with tranny wont set ya back too much - Change both ;)
