'Semi' Engineering Bricks

As part of a specification for the required foundations / base for a new wooden garage, the firm making the building have specified a single course of 'semi-engineering bricks' to support the structure off the new concrete slab.

Looking round various outlets I have come across normal (common?) bricks and engineering bricks, but no semi-engineering. Is there another name for these, or alternatively, a specification to ask for that the 'trade' would recognise.

Anyone in the trade should recognise semi-engineering bricks. Brick makers like Warnham produce them for things like manholes.
They are a bit easier to lay than engineering bricks as they are not as dense. If you google semi-engineering bricks I'm sure you should get some info.

You can buy solids or perf's (perforated).

They are commonly sold as perf's unless requested otherwise.

I think you are missing Woodstocks' point Stuart, the bricks exist, the terminology exists, but is is a misleading representation.
