As part of a specification for the required foundations / base for a new wooden garage, the firm making the building have specified a single course of 'semi-engineering bricks' to support the structure off the new concrete slab.

Looking round various outlets I have come across normal (common?) bricks and engineering bricks, but no semi-engineering. Is there another name for these, or alternatively, a specification to ask for that the 'trade' would recognise.

Thanks.

Anyone in the trade should recognise semi-engineering bricks. Brick makers like Warnham produce them for things like manholes.
They are a bit easier to lay than engineering bricks as they are not as dense. If you google semi-engineering bricks I'm sure you should get some info.

It's a bad specification which refers to semi-engineering bricks, as these don't exist.

There probably mean Class B engineering bricks - ie the red ones with the holes in

Thanks.

So Class B (the red ones with holes) it is then. Do they always come with holes?

You can buy solids or perf's (perforated).

They are commonly sold as perf's unless requested otherwise.

Who the f*** are Kebur? ;)

Some muppet firm that thinks Class B engineers are called 'semi-engineering bricks'. That Southerners for yer. ;)
