There is no simple solution to this problem but if the girls regularly both touch the metal frame then they can try and keep them selves at the same potential and stop any large charges occuring

Many years ago getting shocks off metal cabinets and the tea trolley at work was common and not a problem. That is until i stood too close to the trolley and got one in a sensitive area!!

You stood next to the trolley naked or with your d*ng hanging out???

The most likely source of the static is clothing rubbing on the mat of the trampoline.

While the shock can be un-pleasant the danger from a static electricity shock is negligable unless it makes someone fall and then become injured from the fall

There are anti-static sprays for mats and carpets which will reduce the build up on the mat. Comfort fabric conditioner / softener diluted and sprayed on carpets reduces the build up of static and remains effective for a few weeks evern after it has dried. It might work on trampoline mats but beware of making the mat slippery and hence dangerous .

To reduce static from clothing wash and then rinse the clothes with Comfort fabric conditioner and dry in a tumble dryer or in the sun rather than spinning away the conditioner.

There are other conditioners but in the past my experiences is that Comfort has given the best improvised anti static treatment. There are specialist anti-static companies who supply industry ( Vermason being one ) but they may not be interested in domestic customers
