is the box twisted? we see more of the top right than the top left, I've been trying to simulate the position of the pi**ed box with a box of mince pies and can't get the same view.

I don't think the OPs meter is electro-mechanical.

5 wires.

Looks like 5 wires going to the meter in the photo to me.

Also I see two henly blocks near the meter, one of them has three wires while the other has only two.

All adds up to a dual-rate meter with a switched output to me.
