Have just read the info you all gave murraym33. Seems my shower pull cord is the same as his. Mounted on the ceiling. The shower is just over a year old. I have tried taking the cover off, but the wires are so short I can only pull it away from the ceiling about 1". Plus the fact I have to stand on a chair, just like I have to do to switch the shower on!!!! Please help............

The switch mechanism is jammed? Or the switch is jammed against the ceiling?

If its the former, I'll put 50p on a burnt neutral.

I'll see your 50p, and put £1 on a cheap crappo switch that was incapable of lasting more than a year.

Thank you both. The actual mech is in a cover on the ceiling. This is where the pull cord comes from. You are meant to be able to pull the cord, and it will turn the dial to on. Pull it again and it is meant to go off. Cord does not pull, so you have to turn the dial manually. Water will not flow unless the dial is on ON

get anew switch, existing one is worn out (too much use) most people never use the pull cord switch

I have serous doubts over whether turning the dial will actually turn off the switch. The dial is merely an indicator and will probably turn without influencing the switch position.

Similar thing happened to me, switch jammed in the off position, living in a rented place, this was not good, so I took the switch apart and jammed it in the on position.

This way, I didn't care how long it took for the land lord to sort it!

Awooogah! Awooogah! Sense of humour failure imminent...

It was only a case of stuck contacts in "off" position, moved to "on" position.

Easy.

He he!
