I am fitting a shower pump that recomends connection to a 3amp fcu. Can i take the spur from the lighting circuit, in the same way that you can for a shaver unit?

what is on the lighting circuit at present? and please dont say lights . . . how many watts of lighting do you have on that circuit? If it is less than 700 then i cant see a problem (upstairs lights are seldom all on at once anyway)

No you shouldn't really , as any Shower equipment ought really have RCD protection, despite an omission in the current Regulations from 2001.
