Hi peoples and good evening. I have just finished wallpapering my hall, stairs and landing. Although there were no gaps between the sheets of paper when it was hung, now it is dry most of the sheets have tiny gaps between them! Any ideas why? Has it shrunk?

I have done my living room in different paper and this is absolutely fine!

Please help.

What was you papering over ?..vinyl silk?....gloss?

Also...did you following the hanging instructions?

Hi Zampa,

Was being hung over walls that were orignally matt emulsion. The walls had been papered before and I had stripped all this paper off, including all the backing!

Yep I followed the instructions, leaving the glue to soak in with the paper folded for 7-10 mins before applying.

Help! lol.

Mike.

Could be oversoaking, when this happens the paper will shrink back more than normal and open up the joints. Some papers like Shand-Kydd specify cross lining beacuse of shrinkage.
