We just returned from a camping trip and my son decided to wash the clothes. Next thing I know, he runs into the house yelling, "the washng machine is burning up". Upon looking at it, there was white smoke coming out of the basin that smelled like burned rubber. The machine now won't spin. I'm assuming the belt has broken and needs to be replaced. However, I would appreciate any and all tips and replies regarding any associated problems so that I can pickup the proper hardware in one trip. Also, I believe Signature was made by Montgomery Wards. If so, will there be a problem finding replacement parts or can I use other brand replacment parts such as the belt?
Or, on the other hand, am I better off getting a new washing machine?
