Sills and seals for a custom made exterior door

I am about to begin construction of a custom made cypress exterior door and would like suggestions on how to best seal the gap between the frame and door. Also, are there good commerical sills available that I might use instead of constructing one of cypress?

Read through a lot of threads concerning doors, but I found nothing concerning an exterior door threshold. (incorrectly called sill in my original post). Does anyone have a technique or suggestion for a threshold...one that keeps the wind and rain outside.
