I have a SIME 'Friendly' (yea right) domestic boiler. My house is approx five years old and I was told that the boiler was installed when the house was built.
I had a problem where CH would work but HW wouldn't. A CORGI registered plumber has come out and replaced a big bronze coloured valve a the rear of the unit and this seemed to cure the problem.
I now have a situation where the boiler fires up for CH and when you turn on a HW tap the pressure gage moves up and down rapidly, the pipes bang and crash and a hissing noise can be heard from within the unit. When you stand up and come back and look at the boiler (having taken cover for fear of explosion) the flame is no longer 'fired up' and both CH and HW are not working.
If you leave the boiler running for just CH then thats fine, although the boiler doesn't seem to care about the thermostat and the rads have just one temperature, VERY HOT!.
Whats going on?
