Hi

SIME Friendly Format 80E Combi-boiler - 5 years' old

For month now, boiler keeps cutting out (every few seconds). Hot water taps running lukewarm/cold/lukewarm/cold. Plumber says thermister needs changing. He operated boiler without thermister to test it, and, although kitchen tap ran v hot (constantly), bathroom tap still ran warm/ cold/warm ... (although boiler didn't cut out). Radiators warm, but not great. Can anyone help?

Change HW thermistor, get the heat exchangers checked and descaled/desludged, then the CH has its own thermistor... Hard to diagnose when there's more than one fault.

Thanks Chris

Plumber ordered thermistor and is changing pump too.

Oops update since this morning. Plumber changed pump and made no difference. Now taking apart the Divertor Valve to clean and reassemble.

For two months our plumber has been trying to solve the problem of our lack of hot water. Boiler not able to stay on, keeps firing off, therefore when running hots taps, get a steady rythem of warm/cold/warm/cold. Pump has been checked, new thermostat fixed, thermister checked and divertor valve cleaned. After cleaning of dv, system operated not too badly for 10 days, then failed and back to warm/cold rythem. Should divertor valve be replaced completely (plumber says it is fine) or should we get new diaphram? PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!

Has ur plumber removed and cleaned the plate to plate heat exchanger. these clog up with limescale in hard water areas.

Well he has had FIVE months to sort it out !!!!!!!!

Plus TWO YEARS its now pointed out! The plumber is probably retired by now!

Look after the months and the years dont take care of themselves.

Thanks for noting that!
