Skoda Octavia 1.6 FSI - Sept 2006 - Car Alarm

Although the alarm lights flash on the car when the alarm is set off the alarm does not make an audible noise. On reading the owners manual there is a warning under Car Alarm that the alarm needs to be replaced after 6 years which slightly surprised me. Can this be done easily and where is the alarm located? I have had a look under the bonnet but cannot see any alarm. Where is it best to obtain a replacement and any idea of cost for part?

I never heard of anyone changing the alarm as a service item, so I think it just needs to be repaired. This link might be of help, though its a 2001 model.

more than likely a sounder problem if the alarm appears to be working, try to locate it as sometimes sounders have an isolator key on them to silence
