Slab insulation

If the purpose of the insulation is simply to improve the sound deadening (acoustic insulation) and prevent air movement then the cavity batt/slab type insulation is ideal.

Thanks for the reply, the only problem is the baton used to build the wall is 3 inches and the slab insulation thickness on Wickes is 100mm which is 4 inches?

Any idea if you can get it slightly thinner?

Cheers

You could buy 100 mm roll insulation which will squash down and be held firmly within the wall.

i squeezed 100 mm down to 50 mm. No chance of it damaging the pb.

The batts are the same material but compressed and then rigidified with some type of glue. Easier to fit, normally twice as expensive, now probably 6-8 times more expensive with subsidy on the roll.

If its sound-proofing you are after, neither will make a huge difference but better than nothing, especially with the ultra-cheap roll. If it is thermal insulation you want, they will be equally efffective.

I'll probably go for the cavity insulation as it seems the best.

Can you cut the insulation to fit in between the batons?

Is it dangerous to inhale the slab insulation like it is loft insulation?

Yes you can cut the insulation.

Fibre-wool is not officially dangerous in any way although some people are definitely allergic. Need to make your own decision.
