We have a cold spot in the middle of our radiator, while the gas board was here the other day i asked them to quote me, they explained its sludge adn it would cost £400  they said they can't bleed the radiator they'd have to flush the whole system coz they say if they bleed the radiator it only comes back again later on :( is this something we could do on our own and if so can you please post an idiots guide to doing it. Thanks

 ...still hung over..thx

If its just one radiator you could remove it and clean it out with the garden hose and refit it

Put in Sentinel x400 sludge remover in your system for a week and turn the heating on everynight, this will loosen up all the magnatite particles, then drain off, fill up, heat up, drain off, fill up, and add chemicals (sentinel x100) to protect your system, easy as that :D and its only cost you £30 for chemicals not £400!!

...or maybe six weeks, it's slow stuff. Fernox Restorer or Sentinel X800 are a lot quicker.

Have never seen x400 clear a blockage no matter how long left in.
X800 or if just the one rad take it off and hose it out , when you see how easy it is and the crap that comes out you may want to do them all as it is a really easy job
