SOLVED Whirlpool dishwasher - blows fuses and burning smell

All I'm trying to say is you could end up with the same problem in a month or two if the problem was not the heater.

Thermostats cut in or out at certain temperatures, like a switch either on or off.

I understand the thermostat idea ok - I just didn't understand what you meant by "Alternatively remove thermostat and heat whilst monitoring temp to see the cut out temp."

Sometimes you have to spell it out for me ;)

Jeez I certainly hope I don't have this again in a month or two!

Remove thermostat and slowly heat, monitor the temp with a thermometer, when it cuts out (switches off) make a note of the temperature.

You will hear it click, to be sure it is def switching (making and breaking contact) you will need to connect a meter to the connectors.

Just because it clicks doesnt mean it is working properly!
