Hotpoint Aquarius WMA30N bearing failure

Help!
I've stripped the machine, made copious notes and taken loads of photos. I've bought a new bearing/seal set and waiting for a new spider & shaft.
I've split the tub and removed the outer bearing but am having great difficulty removing inner seal and bearing. I've seen a spring between the inner seal and bearing-does that spring need to replaced or is it inside the new seal?

What's the trick for removing seal and inner bearing?

There is a kit available to remove and replace bearings on the older machines. Not sure on the WMA range, but would imagine there would be one for that too.

The trick, in the absence of the kit used to be to use a big hammer and a metal shaft to knock the inner bearing out (you slide the shaft in behind the bearing from the outside of the tub and gently tap) Plastic tubs are prone to damage from all the knocking though, hence better to use the kit.

Without said kit, You will have a problem fitting the new bearing anyway, as that has to be tapped back in with the hammer again. One slight tap on the bearing race and it's ******ed!

To be honest, a new drum complete is the better option, but given the cost of replacing the whole machine, it's debatable as to if it's worth your while.

Sorry, that's not much help is it?!

Good luck though.

Thanks for your thoughts-I can fix up a puller, I Think, to pull the new bearings into place but its getting the inner bearing and seal out that is difficult. I've started to carefully break the inner bearing up in situ (slow work)

The seal looks as if it is bonded somehow to its surrounding plastic.
I'm in a determined mood!!

Cheers
