The previous owner of my house has taken a 6mm cable from the cu to the kitchen, connected into a junction box and split into two 6mm, one going to a built in leccy oven on one side of kitchen and a leccy 4 element hob on the opposite side.
is this okay or should two seperate feeds be run, or some other method?
Also what should i do (besides a rewire for the time being)when there are no earths on the lighting circuit, but metal light fittings are installed? and why did they not fit earthing originally?

Galv, this isn't ideal and not advised, however before condeming it out of hand can you answer a couple of questions.

1. What is the maximum load of the built in oven?

2. What is the maximum load of the Hob?

3. What rating Junction Box is it?

4. What type and size of protective device in in the consumer unit?

the hob and oven are fairly old and there are no labels with wattages on.
The oven is a normal size with a small oven above and grill, the hob is the normal solid 4 ring type, the junction box is a 30 amp and the fuse is a mcb 32 amp.
