Spots forming on Ceiling (moved from "Projects")

Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone can help with a recent issue we are having. About 12 months ago we went through a major renovation and replaced the roof, interior plaster wall, and kitchen.
Recently we have noticed some dark (brownish) spots appearing on the ceiling of the kitchen through the paint.
Has anyone got any ideas why this is happening?
Any info would be much appreciated.

You're in the wrong bit really- best off posting in Building or Roofing.
Good odds there's some water above that plasterboard- if the roof is directly above it then might be condensation in the roof space or might be a leak. Any way you can have a look (without ripping things apart)?

Wipe it off with a mild bleach solution, and open the window, or switch on the extractor when cooking; and if they didn't install one, then get them back to get one fitted,
