Stiff Gear change on Peugeot 306 turbo diesal

It is almost impossible to get into first / reverse gear without crashing it. This occurred shortly after clutch replacement which may or not be relative

Where does the clutch 'bite'? may need some adjustment.

Also if the gearbox has been out, the gear linkage may need adjusting

Thanks. It seems to me that the clutch never fully disengages even though I have my toe hard into the floor. In the interim I have arranged to return the car to the garage which replaced the clutch.
