You would normally fix a casing or a liner to the stud carcass and fix the door to this. So, to answer your question - no problem with fixing doors to studwork.

Make sure you get the correct liner for your particular stud wall depending on the stud thickness; usually either 75mm or 100mm studs. Make sure you construct the stud correctly.
