suspended ceiling fixings

what type of fixings would you fine men use if putting a tube light on a suspended ceiling...like the tile type :?:

If you want to fix it to the T Bar, there are propriatory fixings for this available form most wholesalers or ceiling tile companies. Fiarly expencisve for what they are though. A bit like a clamp with a nut and bold attached.....I will try to find a pic.

Or, fit some batten behind a tile and screw through the time to that. If the load if heavy, straddle the batten the full width of the tile, so the grid takes the weight.
 
what about the spring and toggle type fixings?
Do you think they would support the weight of a 5 ft tube light :?: :idea:
 
Depends on the tile itself - some are very flakey, some are more like plasterboard.

You can also self tap to the grid if you want - small HSS drill (high speed steel), and then use a tight threaded wood screw, or if you are a pro, a self tapper, or even thread the hole and use bolt.
