System clean

Hi there my boilers hot water has started to get lukewarm .Heating system is fine but called out our sevicecare fitter and he recommends a system clean/flush (not a power flush)to clean up the system . Once we've done this he'll fit a new heat element but I've asked around and cannot find anyone who has the right equiptment to carry out the duty.Most plumbers in the area only have power flushing gear.

Any ideas ? thanks

I have NOT heard this one before. The only machines you get (on the open market) to clean a system is a power flush machine.

I think they "changed the name" to try and stop you from shopping around.

A system flush needs chemicals but no equipment.

Any heating engineer can do it. I charge about £180 which is about half the price of a power flush. I do it over two visits.

If the problem is corrosion/debris blocking your plate heat exchanger, I would recommend that you fit a filter on the ch return pipe near the boiler. It will catch anything before it can lodge in your boiler.

Thanks for clearing that up, Agile. Could not understand the the equipment bit. We know this as a chemical clean?
