I'm going over this week to try and sort my mum's kitchen tap. Won't have a lot of time but am assuming it needs a new washer.

She turns the tap off, still gets slight drip so tries to turn more tightly, and the tap 'jumps' and starts running again.

So basically the tap can be turned endlessly.

Is it possible the thread has gone, and would this require a complete new tap fitting?

Or am I right that a new washer will likely sort it?

Hi

A new washer might help but it sounds like there is something wrong with the head also. Take along tap head reviver kit as well.
