I also have a mixer tap which needs replaceing, I have no Idea how to get the old one off, or what type of connector.

Hi mark

Take off plate A by unscrewing the brass screw underneath it then follow the same instructions as posted by jobloggs.......
 
You take off Plate A by unscrewing what you are calling Pipe A, it is a threaded tube
