Texecom, Honeywell, Visonic etc which for a small system

Go for a Texecom Odyssey 3E. Decent low cost sounders. The Honeywell are okay, but not as good as the Texecom Oddy.

The round TCC8M fobs are best. The older TCB800M are too big.

Would I be correct in thinking that the metal case version is the better option to go for?

Only required if you are siting the box at low height. The metal case does have twin Piezo's though, so is louder 115db. The 3E is cheaper as it is the economy version with only 1 Piezo 108db. The standard 3 is non metal with twin Piezo 115db.
