The dreaded Brittany Combi.............help needed

Also, just going back, can I not use the system gauge when putting air in?

Or must it be done with a seperate gauge?

Now Im really confused.

Ive totally drained the system and let all the air out of the expansion vessel using the valve.........and its still tell me theres 1 bar of pressure on the gauge.

Sound like the gauge is knakkered.....................
 
It does sound faulty, or a connection to it has a blockage - but it measures the water pressure in the heating system - nothing more & nothing less. As far as your concerned it has no connection to the air pressure in the Expansion Vessel. That must be measured seperately, using the guage on your foot-pump - to approx 0.9bar.
