Our Diagnostic kit cost £2000, with £350 a year subscription for updates etc.
£50 sounds fine for a garage to do it (bearing in mind the cost of the equipment and the techs labour time).
Ford wanted £100+vat to pull my gearbox codes (bought the equipment myself to do that job).
Ford Etis, not the best in the world, due to be replaced soonish anyway.
Yeah that sounds about the average I'd say. I had an electrical fault in a Ford Focus that nobody could fix and it was just draining me of money the more I tried so in the end I virtually gave it away - probably not the best decision but where do you draw the line with cars that develop these rare faults that can't be fixed.Independent garages in Northumberland in the region of £50 per hour plus VAT, main dealers the sky is the limit but around £95 per hour plus vat.

Exactly that it was to do with some type of electronic board and the car would just stop intermittently - I had the local garage try then took it to the dealer who replaced it but then it did the same thing again - it did have a name but can't remember except it was some type of circuit board - also every time it just stop it would cost me £100 to get the garage to come and get meWhat was the fault every so often you turn the key and nothing happens?
PCB on instrument panel i done one on a mates 07 Focus. Ford had put stuff costing 1.5k in. Took instrument panel out and resoldered PCB never had the problem again and still going strong took under an hour all in.Exactly that it was to do with some type of electronic board and the car would just stop intermittently - I had the local garage try then took it to the dealer who replaced it but then it did the same thing again - it did have a name but can't remember except it was some type of circuit board - also every time it just stop it would cost me £100 to get the garage to come and get me
It was a car valued at around £3,500 but this fault cost me about £1,500 and that's when after I sunk £1,500 into it with the car in the exact same situation as in the first place I just decided to abandon it and cut my losses because I could have ended up spending another £500 or even £1,000
We're on Texa IDC5 at work and I mainly use FORScan at home. I have FORD IDS but it's shocking to use compared to others!.
Is an Etis very common Eddie as it's not a car I really can picture - was it an import from another country?
