I hope you guys can help. Whatever I do I can't get the inlet hose of my washing machine to properly attach to the inlet pipe! I have tried exceptionally hard to get it as straight as possible, but it always leaks. I have bought a brand new hose, same problem. I've tried plumbers tape, which has mostly worked. Ultimately I have a bucket under the work surface so at least it can drip into that and I can empty it periodically. It is a minute drip, but that adds up. I've not had this problem when I've plumbed in other washers. Is it possible that the inlet pipe fitting is the problem not the hose? Or is there an easier way? Some cunning devise or fitting I have no knowledge of? It's extremely frustrating - I have to drag the washer out once a month to empty the bucket.
I've looked at you tube at see if I'm missing a trick, but they are just doing exactly what I've been doing.
Any suggestions?

Is it possible that the inlet pipe fitting is the problem not the hose?
As you have replaced the hose, that is the only likely cause.
Either it's damaged or it's not designed to have a hose attached to it (could be an isolation valve with the end missing).
A picture will confirm.

Washing machine hoses should not need tape or anything else to seal, and should be tightened by hand only.

Further to flameport's post, the fitting should look something like this - either straight or angled

I presume you changed the washer when fitting a new hose?

I've always found putting two rubber washers in helps seal these kind of joints when all the thread has been used up after tightening and theres still a bit of slack with the union which can cause a minute leak.
