Thermostatic diverter driving me mad

So, I have a 2 way Abode thermostatic shower valve. Piped correctly. The problem I have is that when its on the shower side of the valve, feeding a rain head the temperature control is incredibly sensitive mm's between hot and cold on the lever, when I switch to handheld there is a full range of control- between 180 degrees of lever movement, also I have to override the thermostat to get full temp (Expected). Summing up the diverter on handheld side works as I would expect the shower side to. Help needed!
