I have begun retiling my kitchen floor in a diamond pattern. I followed the advice I found in various places and laid all my full tiles first.

I have let that set and I am now ready to cut and place the rest of the tiles.

However - there is tile adhesive sticking out the sides of the full tiles that I laid and it's sitting higher than it should so the next set of tiles won't be level.

I should have cleared it all off before letting it set but the instructions I followed failed to mention that bit and it's too late for that now.

Can anyone suggest a way of getting this adhsive off other than simply hitting it with a hammer and chisel for a day?

You should be able to remove it with an old wood chisel - it'll crumble relatively easily. You won't need a hammer.

Thanks for the advice.

It does come off relatively easily with a wood chisel.

But it's a long boring job.

I wish I'd cleaned up properly in the first place - then I would have finished by now.

Oh well!!!
