Hello everyone, new to the site. Please can I pick your brains. Recently moved house, tiles in the bathroom are not to our taste but there are loads of them! What would be the best solution?

Tile paint? How good is it? OR
Knock them all off and start again?!

Thank you

Hi

If the existing tiles are well fixed then you could consider tiling over the top of them. This will depend how much further they will stick out against the room furniture (toilet, sink, etc). You could remove the toilet etc and replace once you tile!

It would be better in the long run if you take the existing tiles off, plaster the walls and start again.

The hardest way is normally the best way!! :D

Good luck!

If you do tile over tile, you'll probably need to take the knobs of your tub & shower faucet to a machine shop and have the bottoms cut off them. If you don't do that, you might find you can't shut the water off entirely cuz the knob hits the tiling before the faucet closest completely.

Pretending to like the tiling you have would be the least expensive option if it's in good condition.
