Tiling on wooden floors

Hi there,

In my kitchen are wooden floor boards and on the one side cement.

I have looked at the wood which is presently covered with vinyl and it is
not worth stripping and varnishing. I am going to use ceramic tiles over
the cement. My question is can I use ceramic tiles over the floor boards
and if so, how do I go about it.
