Hi Guys,

I have constructed a R&R cabin in my garden. At time of construction, I buried a 4" plastic (soil) service pipe approx 250mm (its as deep as I could have gone in certain parts of the garden).

Because I am not doing 'direct buried', do I need really SWA, or can I just use standard cable.

Regards.

Yep - any electric cable buried in the ground should have an earthed metalic sheath to comply with BS7671. SWA has a metal sheath, standard cable (assuming twin and earth) doesn't.
This work is also notifiable under part p of the building regs.
