Hi went to help a friend yesterday after I dignosed the diaphragm on her toilet cistern was shot (no flush)..anyway removed the siphon no probs and sure enough that was the problem...I had bought a new siphon to fit which was the correct height (11 inches or there abouts)..Much to my horror when I went to install it I found it could not be installed as the diameter of the pipe at the bottom was slightly smaller than the one that had been removed, therefore I couldn't connect it to the pipe that connects from the cistern to WC..(The down pipe couldn't slide in)
Fortunately I had also brought along a replacement diaphragm for the existing siphon so got it up and running again...
Can anyone explain if this is normal..The WC is a standard 70's Ideal Standard (non close coupling)...Are siphons with different diameter bottom connecting pipes available?
