Iwant to have a decorative white wall built in my garden, mainly to act as as a screene. I don't want a copping stone on the top. Is it ok to have just a block wall built, with nothing on the top, or wouldnt this be weathered? I want it to look very modern.

If you intend to render the wall, it is acceptable to render the horizontal top of the wall. You do not need any coping.

the mortar layer on top will rend to suffer from damp and green mould in summer, and crack from frost in winter.

the coping layer is intended to be dense and water resistant to protect the wall.

you might consider rectangular paving slabs to match the wall thickness (though a slight overhang sheds the water, otherwise you will get water and mould tracking down the side of the wall)
