Doing a side kitchen extension and will be ordering windows and doors soon. Will need a couple of small UPVc windows and 2 sets of 1800mm French doors.

What's the deal with trickle vents in the windows and doors? I know what they do but are they any use and are they a requirement for BC? Do they need to be on both windows and French doors? To me they spoil the clean lines of a window, particularly the small ones.

You'll need background ventilation to comply with Building Regs, typically you have one or two per window, the exact quantity is determined by doing the specific calculations (which are actually pretty simple) but generally people just do as I've suggested.
