I get independently assessed every three months.

My assessor this time argued with me about trip times.

He asked "What is the maximum trip time for an RCD at 1x?"

My reply - "To which standard is the device made?"

He was stumped.

Anybody else had discussions of this ilk?

Did you book the ten minute argument or the full half-hour?

The answer he expected was 200ms.

My answer was: 200ms for BS4293 or 7288 (?? from memory)

and 300ms for 61008 & 9.

He disputed the 300ms, even when shown the OSG, because he was told that 200ms was the "right" answer.

F*ck me!!!!

Are you prepared to reveal the initials of the assessing organisation?

Dont be shy, and you are not allowed to just say "it starts with N"

You're correct, he's not.

Just think yourself lucky - imagine the mess he'd be in trying to make sense of your answers if he'd asked about S-types?

Good point!

Talking of which, there are not many who can decipher 11.2 (ii). What is the time delay?

Is S type not just 130-500ms? BS4293 with time delay 50-100% rated time + 200ms.
