So is it right they are designed to work like this? Is so, why?

A lot of dimmer switch reviews on Amazon get downrated because consumers don't expect this behaviour.

VARILIGHT intelligent dimmers (V-Plus, V-Pro and V-Com) all have a soft start feature as standard. When the dimmer is turned on, it will slowly bring the lights to the set level over a period of around a second. This is designed to extend the life of both the lamps and the dimmer but preventing any spikes on start up.

Thank you for confirming, a lot of people don't understand that this is a design feature and it's going to take a long time for them to get used to it.

Hey everyone, here is an update. I switched to a double dimmer and changed the connecting cable to a brown cable.
