Hi All,

This should be a really quick one to answer?

I have an old Victorian house with an original tiled hallway.

The hallway runs under the cellar and it’s absolutely freezing to walk on.

I’m wondering whether there would be any benefit at all to installing UFH.

This would be using aluminium spreader plates installed to the ceiling of the cellar. The floor itself is a few inches (3-4) thick.

I question whether any heat would ever actually make it though to the floor above?

As the optimum thickness on a screed type system is 65 mm which is obviously direct contact I would suggest at best what your proposing would take some time to heat up.
You would certainly have to carefully insulate under spreader plates to stop any downward heat flow..
