Is there any danger in using my Kindle wall charger on my Garmin Nuvi 1490 Sat Nav.

A Garmin wall charger on ebay states Output Voltage DC5.V 1000mA

My Kindle wall charger says 5V 0.85A

5v is 5v. No problem at all. I mix chargers all the time. The only issue I've had is when charging my tablet as it need the full 1A to charge in a reasonable time. A 500mA charger will do it but it takes longer.

You need to be certain that the charger is not intelligent in that it monitors the voltage and / or current on the device's charger socket to prevent over charging of the battery. This protective mechanism should be in the item but some very compact items "export" it into the charger.

Anything that uses microusb for charging should be fine though.
