Hi,

My Vaillant turbomax vuw 242 e will not heat water when i turn on the hot tap. From searching other past forums there is some suggestions about the diaphram??? being responsible and that this is fairly easy to change.

Can anybody send me a copy the service manual for this model and/or make any suggestions for me? My email is *********

Thanks

HI

this model does not have diaphragm instead it has flow sensor and diverter valve

yes it does have a diaphragm. that may well be the problem. the diaphragm comes with a kit & it may be better to let a professional install it if necessary.
on the other hand the whole diverter may require changing. this may depend upon weather the lower part of the diverter is made of plastic & what colour the attached microswitch is.
my advice, get a pro in. you could get in a right mess.

Thanks for the advise, I was hoping to avoid the cost of a professional but I'm not going to be stupid enough to try diy repair in that case.

Do you have any idea a rough quote for this work so I don't ripped off. I'm never used a professional corgi man before.

Cheers

Diaphragm kit about 5 quid whole valve around 100 quid .
Cost of fitting depends on how long it takes the guy some can do it in half hour others will take hour and a half.
There is one little screw that sometimes needs drilled out

Namsag thats interesting i bought a kit through shoreheat last week & was charged approaching £30 inc vat.

gas appliances spares at preston genuine vaillant part. comes with diaphragm , bearing plate and new screws and nylon insert and O ring for housing .
Cost around £4.50 then about 2 quid for next day delivery. www.gas-spares.co.uk Whatever price comes up you get 20% discount.

Delivery service is excellent phoned at 3pm thurs for a plate heat ex for a baxi it was with me 200 miles away at 1 pm on friday . They have never let me down and recommended them 100%

good to know.
the kit i got contained the complete internal mechanism, o rings ,washers etc for both sections of he valve & microswitch replacement.
i had no choice & only asked for the diaphragm.

Sounds like you got the diverter service kit rather than just the diaphragm kit
