Vaillant ecoMAX800/2 Condensing combi boiler

I myself have same boiler when case is off & diverter valve is visible check the size of 4 holes drilled into body.If they are about the size of a knitting needle you have the early defective valve, if the holes are about the size of a pencil it is the newer updated valve.Part is about £95 & can be changed in about 20 mins

Hi, I've just seen the Engineer tinkering with the boiler and to be honest the first impression I got was how young he was...not that, that should detract from his expertise. He knew his stuff and charged me £30 for installing a new diaphram and increasing the rate at which the boiler heated up the water through the hot water outlet. He seems up to the task so have made appointment for him to carry out annual servicing.

Again thanks for all the advice and pointing in the general direction.

I didn't check the holes but if the cover is off again or it dies again I will check and get it upgraded....Ta

Seems like you got an absolute bargain! Most engineers would charge a minimum of at least £50 + VAT to attend
