Hi all,

Yep its this old chestnut again, central heating works no hot water demand light and no hot water, usual suspects the diverter valve/diaphram/microswitch.

So individually appear to work properly, when I call for hot water the switch is visibly depressed but not quite enough to make contact, giving it a helping nudge ticks it on then its enough to keep it down.
What's the non bodge way of fixing this, new microswitch? or shall I just plop a folded bit of card between the lever and it ;)

The correct way to repair is to fit a new diverter valve.

I usually charge about £224

I always thought that I was too cheap.

Even so I still only do about half of those that I quote by phone for as a defined repair cost. Somebody is doing very cheap work. Probably those not born in the UK.

Have one where I have to drill out both lower screws and only charging an extra £10 for that when I get round to doing it.

The two screws were £14 !
