I have inherited a Vaillant Combi which is one of the VCW range (221, 242,282 etc) and was in production between 1988 and early 1996.
I can get it to fire up intermittantly ( eventually after using self ignition switch) to produce HW and heat in rads. However, the pilot light & burners do not stay on for long and the next day the boiler will not fire up when I turn on the HW tap.
The boiler makes a loud 'clicking' noise when CH is on. The noise disappears if its in HW mode only.
The gas flow is good ( the Gas Fire in house works well) And the water pressure is at 1bar constantly ( as required)
Any pointers?
