Van Signage.....

I think his idea is to do with soft marketing - making sure the boys have their company jumpers on, signs on the scaffold etc....like handyman says never got a call in 2 years, but if I do a lot of work in one area, maybe subliminally people will just notice over a period of time???

I'm not sold on the idea myself, I quite like the vans as they are! Transits were meant to be white!

4 jobs in 15 years solely from someone getting the number from the van.

Bear in mind Mr Taxman has his little elves who make notes of sign written van locations and may question you one day should you ever be investigated "Where is the payment entry in the bank for the three days you did at Number 3 Acacia grove"

The short curtain brigade will also take your registration, as well........

My experience is that it does work, sometimes I work in local towns and I have had calls from my van been seen there even though I do not advertise there also had people phone me on the motorway as there driving behind me with a enquiry,so I think it does work just do not spend a fortune on it.

This reminds me of an idea I read about years ago.
You set up one of those premium rate phone lines and put the number on the back of the van along with a "how's my driving?" sign.
Then just drive like a **** :D

no i wouldnt have my van sign written try selling a van when its time to go with hairy plumber co dot blah blah on it . as been said magnetic is feasable

lol well said lady hows my driving i love it

Get your van sign written . A unmarked van stinks of 'here today-gone tommorow'.
It is your way of letting potential customers know you are here to stay.

Does not have to be expensive to get it done at all.

It will also make you feel good about your business and will give you a uplift- knowing you are proud to be doing what you do.

Too may people -especially plumbers running around in their cars with 3m copper pipes hanging out of the back window.
Does not exactly inspire confidence-- does it ?.

If you are not hiding anything- go for it.
Also- if you want the name of a sign supplier who is top of his game and VERY cheap- just ask--and i will let you know .

yesterday picked up a order for a job, because the home owner had seen my sign written van.

Well done. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to enquiries. We have different numbers so I can track where they're coming from and if it's a newspaper I always check exactly which one and which issue! That way I know exactly what we've made profit from jobs coming directly from the van and it's paid for the signage about 20 times over!

So do you have to keep these numbers running even after your advertising has finished in what media you have used to advertise. The numbers must mount up over the years?

Thanks peterperfection - I think i've been talked into Logo and web address on the side - i've definitely got nothing to hide, I think my worry was just about looking like any tom dick or harry. I always wonder when I see peoples van's and they say that they are plastering specialists and roofing specialists and electricians etc all on one van.....doesn't inspire confidence. Hence the idea of just driving people towards the website.

I have to say I agree with every thing that perfection says, white vans look like Mr Pie.Kay!!!
I've picked up work though my van signage,a lot of customers(normally neighbours) some times don't want to approach you,I've had people phone saying that they saw my men working on a job not knowing that was me lol
its well worth the money!
Regards
Dave
