I have a 8 year old Vent-Axia 443298B Lo Carbon Multivent MVDC-MSH Continuous Humidistat Mechanical Extract Ventilation in my flat which hasn't been working for many years. Apparently the motor and potentially motherboard need replacing, a quote for the parts is £258 and I would still need someone to install the parts, it looks like I can get a new unit for £195, would it be easier to switch out the parts or get a new unit installed? And if a new unit would I be better off with a newer version or identical to the previous one.

If after many years you have no condensation related problems in your flat then you don't need a fan.
