I have a Vokera Excell boiler that is giving intermittent hot water. British gas have been to check it out and recommend a new heat exchanger. Does this sound like the correct response to the problem? Will removing it and flushing it through help?
Also if I replace the secondary exchanger will it then be necessary to flush the entire system to prevent debris being passed into the new exchanger?

Any thoughts welcome

The usual cause of intermittent DHW is a failing diverter valve on your boiler.

But thats immediately obvious by observing the movement of the fulcrum arm when a tap is turned on.

it would help to know if you are getting intermittant hot water that cycles hot and cold or if its cycling hot and warm.

it could be either of the above suggestions.

There is a list as long as your arm that could cause this fault.

Hard to guess from afar.

A lot more info is required.

Try to be more specific.
